Safety should never be a luxury
When it comes to the place a family calls home.
From fire to safety
The fear of losing your home—and your family’s sense of safety—can shake a father to his core. Ibrahim, a 50-year-old father of two sons, Zaid (23) and Samer (17), lived through this fear when a sudden electrical fire tore through their home in East Amman.
A home rebuilt, a family restored
Even though Ibrahim had a steady job, he couldn’t afford the basics. Things got worse after a fire damaged the home’s wiring, windows, and doors. Rain and cold came in easily, but the family had no other place to go, so they stayed.
Habitat for Humanity Jordan stepped in. The team restored the home—repairing electrical systems, replacing doors and windows, repainting walls, and installing energy-efficient solutions.
For Ibrahim, the real change wasn’t just physical.
“I started to feel safe again,” he says. “We could close the bathroom door, walk around the house in peace. It finally feels like a home.”
His wife, Laila, adds:
“We were lost and didn’t know where to start. Habitat gave us hope and brought back the feeling of having a real home.”

“We were living in darkness,” Ibrahim says.
“Now our home is full of light.”
