Empowering Families with Home Repairs

We are proud to announce the launch of the “Empowering Families with Home Repairs Project,” generously funded by the Gratiot Gift Fund. This vital initiative aims to address pressing housing challenges in Eastern Amman, where many families live in unsafe and deteriorating homes that compromise their health, dignity, and safety.

This project is rooted in Habitat for Humanity Jordan’s mission to ensure everyone has a decent place to live. By focusing on essential home repairs and renovations, the project seeks to create safer, more livable, and environmentally sustainable housing for those most in need.

For whom?

This project is designed to support vulnerable Jordanian families who face barriers to accessing safe housing, especially:

  • Female-headed households
  • Elderly individuals
  • People with disabilities

These groups often reside in deteriorating conditions that pose serious risks to their health and well-being. Through this initiative, we are placing a special focus on equity and inclusion by reaching those who are most often left behind.

What do we do?

The project offers direct, grant-based home repairs and renovations to improve structural safety, accessibility, and overall living conditions. Repairs will be carried out by skilled workers, ensuring quality and long-term durability. In line with our commitment to sustainability, we are also incorporating green practices to reduce environmental impact.

In addition, Habitat for Humanity Jordan is working closely with local government entities to maintain transparency, ensure community engagement, and amplify the long-term impact of the intervention.

By the end of the project, 76 Jordanian households will have safer, healthier homes, leading to greater stability, dignity, and well-being for individuals and families alike.
